11th Oct 2011 System, Sacmi, BMR and Marazzi, among the award winners at the Green Economy Festival
The District Green Economy Festival ended on Sunday 9th October in Fiorano. The four-day event offered an opportunity to meet and discuss how and to which extent Green Economy represents an opportunity of development for the Italian tile manufacturing industry and for the district’s economy. The successful initiative ended officially with the consignment of the Green Economy Awards to companies that best combine Italian technology and style with ecological sustainability.
The prize-giving ceremony, directed by the scientific journalist, Maurizio Melis from the program entitled Mr. Kilowatt on Radio 24, was attended by the Chairman of the Legislative Committee of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Matteo Richetti, the mayor of Sassuolo, Luca Caselli, the mayor of Castellarano, Gian Luca Rivi and the mayor of Castelvetro, Giorgio Montanari. The winner of the ‘Green Technology’ category was System Group with its 4 Phases, an incredibly innovative project that guarantees process optimisation and saving and recycling of resources. Sacmi Forni came runner-up with its Eco Kiln, which offers remarkable operational flexibility and reduced emissions. A special mention went to BMR for its dry squaring technology with low consumptions as opposed to the standard technology. The winner of the ‘Green Product’ was the Climatica Group with its “Bioceramic insulant’, which was greatly appreciated from a point of view of its uniqueness, innovation and green economy. Marazzi came runner-up with Touch, a hi-tech and very attractive product to support Domotics in the field of Home Automation. The ‘Green Management’ category, which awarded the most virtuous companies from a point of view of the certifications of the factories and production plants, was won by Keope, with two second places that went to Coem and Panaria; a special mention was given to Florim for its sustainability balance. To end, the ‘Other spheres of green economy’ category gave some special mentions to: Associazione Terrae Novae, Gruppo Concorde, EcoCer F.lli Cottafava; Ecotecnomat and Eco-Arca.
